Kitchen, dining and daytime living blend seamlessly together beneath a playful lantern roof - its ceiling enriched with exposed reclaimed timber details, generating a warm, nurturing atmosphere overhead and bringing some modest grandeur to the space. The roof form and corner glazing optimise natural light and generate a feeling of spaciousness. External materials celebrate the rich reds and browns of the existing house, and metalwork is playfully coloured to match this theme.

Circulation spaces are consolidated and clarified, and the existing living room at the front of the house becomes a secondary, quiet, evening space for reading or music.
