The proposed roofscape mediates between the existing garage eaves and those of an existing rear extension by means of a small catslide hip on one side. Roof detailing matches the existing house. The traditional form and materiality is blended with contemporary corner glazing and an accent of white brick to enliven and modernise its appearance.
Layout incorporates the existing garage for storage and an en-suite. The new bedroom takes in views of a generous rear garden whilst protecting privacy internally. A corner window seat offers a private and peaceful place for contemplation. Internally, the architecture balances the warmth of exposed natural timber features with an overall minimalist approach to surface detail.
